After liberation, the monastery area was once converted to the North Suburb Park. In 1975, a zoo was set up. In 1983, the main part of the monastery was separated from the zoo, which shows the scale of the year.
In the twentieth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1387), Zhu Yuanzhang ordered King Xian of Shu to welcome the abbot of Ren Zhaojue Temple, a Zen master of Zhirun, and to expand the temple. According to Li Yu Zhonglan of the Qing Dynasty’s Records of Restoring Zhaojue Temple, "King Xian of the Ming and Shu Dynasties opened it up again, and the walls around it were covered with more than 700 feet, the clouds in the hall and the golden body supporting the Han Dynasty. As a result, the Tibetan Pavilion, the Buddhist ancestors of the heavens, were not magnificent."
It was introduced that the tomb of the Buddhist monk Yuanwu still exists in the temple, but it was not noticed. Yuanwu Keqin lived in Zhaojue Temple twice during the Chongning reign of Huizong in the Northern Song Dynasty and the early Shaoxing reign of Gaozong in the Southern Song Dynasty (1131). Shaoxing was quiet for five years.
At present, the temple holds the Yulanpen Festival over-the-limit legal activities.
