Yuanyang was once a symbol of brothers

Mandarin ducks used to be the symbol of brothers. In ancient Chinese literary works, Mandarin ducks were first compared to brothers. The first poem of Su Ziqing’s Four Poems in the Selected Works of the Southern Dynasty wrote: "The flesh and bones are green branches and leaves, and the knots are also related to each other. All over the world are brothers, who are pedestrians. Besides, I have branches and trees, and I am the same as my son. Formerly for the mandarin duck and Mandarin duck, now for the participation day…"
Brotherhood is like a leaf growing on a branch, and so is the relationship between friends. Within the four seas are brothers, who are not unrelated strangers. Besides, we are flesh and blood brothers connected by branches, and you and I are of the same body. Once as close as a Mandarin duck, now as if the stars in the West and the merchants in the East do not meet each other. Thus, this poem is about a brother’s farewell, in which "mandarin duck" refers to a brother.
Ji Kang of the Wei Dynasty wrote in one of his poems "Giving Brothers and Giving Talents to Enter the Army": "Mandarin ducks are flying, eliminating their feathers. Tour the plateau, Yusulanzhu. Yong He Ming, Gu Yu couple. He is generous, pleasant and generous. Ji Kang describes in his poems the freedom and happiness between himself and his elder brother intoxicated with mountains and rivers, the island full of orchids, a clear lake, and the water birds with harmonious voices… Therefore, this poem also uses the term "Mandarin duck" to describe brothers’harmony and friendship.
Lu Yun, a literary scholar of Jin Dynasty, was named Erlu as his brother Lu Ji when he was young. Zheng Feng of Jin Dynasty has four copies of Answer to Lu Shilong Shu. The first title is Yuanyang. The preface says, "Yuanyang, Meixian, there are two sages, flying to Dongyue and Yanghui to Beijing." Here is the analogy of Lu Ji and Lu Yun Brothers with "Mandarin Duck".
"How can you die if you want to be a mandarin duck and not envy immortals?" In Chang’an Guyi, Tang Dynasty poet Lu Zhaolin vividly depicts the affection of a couple. According to the 1980 edition of Cihai, comparing the couple with "Mandarin Duck", it began with Lu Zhaolin’s poems. Since then, "Mandarin duck" has become a model of love and old age, and a symbol of eternal love in people’s minds.[奥特曼]
