Today we re going to introduce a small ‘flower fairy …

Today we are going to introduce a small "flower elf" – Selasphorus rufus, a small hummingbird, about 8 centimeters in length. They live happily in North America (from Alaska in the north to the Gulf of Mexico in the south), and they live in a wide range of forests, bushes, courtyards and parks. Like most birds, they move during the day, rest at night, eat nectar as their main food, and occasionally hunt small invertebrates for snacks, such as blackflies, midges, flies, spiders and aphids. Contrasted with their small bodies, they are characterized by strong territorial awareness and aggression. The Brown hummingbird is a migratory bird that migrates to warm southern California and the Gulf of Mexico in winter. Adult males usually do not migrate. They are very cold-resistant and can tolerate temperatures of – 20 degree C, and their longevity is relatively long compared to other hummingbirds, with a record of up to 8 years old.
