Shark embryos perceive predators and their gills stop breathing to conceal themselves. The researchers simulated the embryos in the eggs of the spotted bamboo shark by using weak artificial electrical signals to simulate the electrical signals when the predator appeared. The results showed that the gills of the embryos moved normally when there was no predator signal, but when the predator signal appeared, the gills of the embryos stopped breathing.
In the video, at the beginning of the 4th second, the analog predator signal begins, the embryo pauses to breathe, reducing the possibility of exposing itself.
