NASA has announced that it will work with 12 companies to develop space technology to return humans to the lunar surface in 2024, including SpaceX, Blue Origin and Lockheed Martin. SpaceX will work with the Kennedy Space Center to study the technology of vertical landing of large rockets on the lunar surface and assess the impact of rocket exhaust on lunar soil. In addition, SpaceX will work with Glenn and the Marshall Space Center to develop technologies for fuelling space.
