Laurel Leaf, translated as laurel crown …

Laurel Leaf, translated as "laurel crown", refers to the crown of laurel leaves. Ancient Greeks regarded laurel as a sacred relic and awarded it to those who won the competition or had beautiful poems and prose in order to show their honor.
"Laurel Crown" originated from the ancient Greek legend Apollo and Daphne. The story is described in the Roman poet Ovid’s Metamorphosis:
Apollo, the son of Zeus, was a famous muscular handsome man of the divine order. Once Apollo received instructions from his father to shoot a monster. On his way back, he saw a child playing with a bow. He went up to the child and said, & quot; you children can’t play with Bows & quot; Barabara said a lot of contemptuous words. Who knows that child is Cupid, the God of love? Cupid listened to Apollo with constraints: & quot; believe it or not, I will shoot you with my arrow. & Apollo naturally did not believe it.

Unexpectedly, the first arrow hit Apollo, and the second one hit Daphne, the daughter of Peneus, the goddess of the river. She was the first beauty in the world of gods. Apollo fell in love with Daphne as soon as he saw her, and his love for her was as uncontrollable as illness, following her like a shadow. However, Daphne advocated the moon goddess and wanted to follow her to become an eternal virgin, so she was very exclusive to men and totally ignored Apollo’s pursuit.
Apollo did not give up. One day Apollo saw Daphne in the woods and went over to confess to him. Because of Cupid’s arrow, Daphne kept running away from him and was about to catch up with him. Daphne fled to the river and shouted for help: "Dad, please open your mouth and swallow me down."
River God has always loved this beautiful daughter, so he exerted his divine power to turn her into a laurel tree. Apollo was very sorry to see Daphne turning into a laurel tree. He vowed to leave a shadow (sunspot) for laurel forever. He used laurel leaves as his laurel crown, laurel wood as his harp and laurel flowers as his bow. At the same time, laurel trees are blessed with evergreen, full of spring energy. The other gods used olive branches and leaves as their hair crowns. Only Apollo, the sun god, made his hair crowns from laurel trees transformed by his beloved Daphne.
In the Roman Empire, the crown of Laurel was often awarded by the Senate to the emperor, indicating his supremacy and being the military leader of the empire. Later, some European monarchs also imitated the ancient Roman emperors to wear laurel crowns, such as Napoleon.
