Day 4 BRUNEI Mabini Padre …

Day 4 BRUNEI

The Marbini Padrey, a Philippine trawler 80 metres long and 12 metres wide, sank on November 13, 1981. A fire broke out on the ship before it sank. Ironically, it was said that the water used to extinguish the fire was the reason for her final sinking.

Now she lies quietly on her side at the bottom of 35 meters, becoming a famous potential. Because of its high visibility, this potential is called Blue water, which is undoubtedly recognized as one of Brunei’s best sunken boat dives, where the Great Blue Water has good luck with visibility of nearly 30 meters. Because it is 35 kilometers away from the nearest coast on an offshore waterway, it takes more than an hour to get there. It is located on the border between Malay and Brunei. Therefore, it is necessary to get up early, set out at 6:20 to prepare equipment, and go to sea at 7 o’clock to catch up with the correct tide level.

Today we made two dives here as planned, because the high tide has passed and the visibility of the second potential is slightly worse than that of the first potential. Interestingly, although the visibility at the side of the wreck is excellent, as the depth increases, a layer of fog slowly engulfs the hull, making it seem to be in a cloud, very mysterious.

Diving down to the right side of the ship and entering the hull from the deck, we can find the engine room with complicated structure. This time, I tried to use some different lamp positions in my design and got some interesting results. Because the cabin is very dark, some natural light photographs even use the maximum aperture of F4, the sensitivity of 12800 and the shutter speed of 1/25. If I have the opportunity to go again, I will try to use tripod to shoot slow doors.

The greatest advantage of using CCR to enter the enclosed space is that it does not fall ashes overhead because of exhaled bubbles. It is almost impossible to explore the intricate hull with fins. More often it is climbing with both hands. There is an illusion of climbing in the metal frame. Because the ship capsized to the right, all the structural positions changed, so the exploration felt very strange.

After exploring the engine room and returning to the open space, the intense blue light makes people feel dizzy, gathering a large group of sea breams around the port side, covering the whole hull in the perfect blue water, which is extremely magnificent. Brunei is like an unknown treasure. This limited time can only go to some of the wrecks. To get a glimpse of the whole situation, I’m afraid it will take at least a month. I look forward to coming back next time to continue exploring.
