Boredom and cold knowledge: The common ducks on Chinese dining tables actually include two different kinds of animals: one is domesticated duck from Anas platyrhynchos in Eurasia, the other is domesticated duck from Cairina moschata in South America, the former is an ancient poultry. The latter was not introduced into China as an economic species until the mid-Qing Dynasty. Although both species are Ducks, they are of different genera and are not closely related. Therefore, the offspring of their hybridization are generally infertile.
