Zhengzhou Yellow River Garden Estuary 2016 8.

Photo taken at Huayuan Estuary of the Yellow River in Zhengzhou in 2016/8

On May 19, 1938, the Japanese invaded Xuzhou and committed crimes along the Longhai Line. On June 9, in order to prevent the Japanese army from advancing westward, the Nanjing government adopted the method of "replacing soldiers with water" by removing the ferry-quot and garden-quot on the South Bank of the Yellow River, 17 kilometers north of Zhengzhou city, which caused the Yellow River to break its dike and divert its course to form a large area of Yellow River flooding. This incident indirectly led to the 1942 Henan Great Famine, the Wenxi Fire in Changsha and the Chongqing Air-raid shelter tragedy, and was called the three major tragedies during the Anti-Japanese War.

Now it stands here. Admonish future generations to remember.
