乐生活Yungang Grottoes in Datong (I) 2013/10
The Yungang Grottoes are the first to be recommended if only for the purpose of visiting and experiencing. By contrast, most of the caves in Longmen Grottoes are closed and can only look out at the railings. Mogao Grottoes is another style, mainly murals and clay sculptures, because of the protection reasons and the enthusiasm of tourists, the experience of visiting is general. I don’t know if the Yungang Grottoes have changed in recent years. Six years ago, many grottoes were accessible. Looking up at the huge stone Buddha statues, I understand the insignificance of the individual, which was impacted by the power of belief thousands of years ago.
