Today we introduce the largest penguin family.

Today we introduce the largest "emperor" in the penguin family, Aptenodytes forsteri, often referred to as "emperor penguin" or "emperor penguin". They are social animals, and when bad weather comes, they crowd together to keep out the wind and the cold. Their activity time is fixed, and they appear at night. There are two main areas of activity, one is the diet area and the other is the breeding area. They come and go between these two areas all the year round. Only from January to March of each year do they disperse into the ocean and hunt in small groups.
Despite the shaky, clumsy manner of these big guys on land, they are real swimmers once they get underwater. They can dive 150 to 500 meters below the water, and the deepest diving record can even reach 565 meters. In water, they can hold their breath for up to an hour. They March at speeds of 6 to 9 kilometers per hour and explode at speeds of 20 kilometers per hour.
Emperor penguins feed mainly on crustaceans and occasionally on small fish and squid. It is the only penguin that breeds in winter in Antarctica. The male emperor penguin has a blood vessel-covered purple skin between his legs and lower abdomen. It can keep eggs at a comfortable temperature of 97 degrees Fahrenheit (36 degrees Celsius) at a low ambient temperature of 180 degrees Fahrenheit (117 degrees Celsius). The pale gray-white feathers on the body can withstand cold and wind, but not waterproof. Waterproof mausoleum feathers will not grow until they are near adulthood. Slowly replace the feathers on the body, and the feathers below the body will fall first. In the wild environment, the life span of emperor penguins is generally about 10 years, and that of individual penguins can reach 20 years.
In the wild, the main natural enemies of emperor penguins include Antarctic giant petrels, seal seals, orcas, skuals and sharks. In addition, snowy stray dogs and their offspring are also a natural enemy of emperor penguins before they are cleared out of Antarctica.
The existing number of emperor penguins is estimated to be between 150,000 and 200,000 pairs, and their population is relatively stable. In the Red List of Endangered Species of the World Conservation Union, the protection status of emperor penguins is in near danger.
