乐生活Today, I’d like to introduce to you a rather peculiar rhododendron, Geococcyx californianus, which is characterized by long tail, white stripes, fluffy crest, naked skin behind eyes, blue and orange.
In the eyes of humans, it looks like a clown, but the cuckoo is a very powerful predator. It walks so fast that when it is found by its prey, it hunts by fast walking and running towards it; when birds or flying insects are overhead, it can jump directly into the air. It can catch snakes and large insects, as well as fast-running lizards and rodents. In cool mornings, the bird turns its back to the sun and plumes up. The sun shines directly on the black skin, which absorbs heat quickly. This allows it to increase body temperature without consuming unnecessary metabolic energy.
