Today bloggers don t plan to update new species.

Today, bloggers are not going to update new species, but hope to revisit the two sisters of mackerel shark, Isurus oxyrinchus and Isurus paucus. Recently, both species have been upgraded from VU to EN in IUCN, which makes them the only endangered species of mackerel shark in Sri Lanka. The proposal of the 18th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Wild Species of Fauna and Flora (CoP18) to include the two in Appendix II of CITES is intended to restrict international trade between mackerel shark and mackerel shark. The main threats facing mackerel shark and mackerel shark at present include concurrent fishing caused by longline fishing and unregulated fish flesh and fins. The trade in products, including mackerel shark, is the second upgrade since NT was upgraded from VU in 2007. However, as far as the current situation is concerned, mackerel shark and mackerel shark are far less concerned than the human-eating shark listed in Appendix II of CITES in 2004. At the same time, two mackerel sharks are also suffering from overfishing in their distribution areas. The Parties to CITES CoP18 will be from 23 May to 3 June 2019. The decision on whether to adopt the proposed amendments to the CITES appendix will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. If the resolution is adopted, the number of shark species listed in the appendix to CITES will increase to 14. Let’s wait and see, the future of these two species may be decided by us…
