Deer-stone was originally named for the discovery of carved or concave deer patterns on it. It is a unique monument or monument to the grassland. It can be said that it is a visual art work on the grassland of Eurasia, but also a cultural product of complex significance. According to statistics, deer stones have been found in Mongolia, Siberia and Xinjiang. Quantitatively, there are more than 400 reports in Mongolia and 125 discoveries in Xinjiang, focusing on the Altai Mountains.
Columnar and plate-shaped deer stones are generally carved on all sides, with continuous patterns. Columnar deer stones are interpreted as anthropomorphic stone statues. The human face and animal images above them are associated with human body and wearing objects (headbands, earrings, belts, weapons, etc.). Some of the taller plate deer stones have patterns on their top (Figure 9). In Eurasian grasslands, deer stones are usually erected next to "khirigsuur" or tombs, so they may also be part of the ritual.![]()
