In the common South American small fat carp in the ornamental fish market, the large spray point swallow (point axe fish / Gasteropelecus maculatus) is known as the king of jumping. There are two reasons for this kind of jumping. One reason is that fish with aggressive or domain consciousness are mixed and chased, which leads to jumping. The second is that it likes to move on the surface of the water and prey on flying insects. Most insects have phototaxis, so it is attracted by the fish tank lamp and hovering around the top of the tank, which causes the swallows to jump out of the tank when they hunt.
The fish in the video is grabbing a moth that has jumped out of the water and been dragged into the water. This moth flew into the house because I forgot to close the screen window, because my fish tank was not covered (not recommended to imitate), so when I was ready to catch it, the fish jumped up from the water and bit the moth and pulled it into the water. The whole process was very fast and accurate, it could be said that it was a hundred steps through the poplar. It was a pity that there were no videos and only pictures of grabbing food in the water.
