Red howler monkey (Alouatta seniculus)…

Red howler monkey (Alouatta seniculus) is a kind of howler monkey in South America. The bottom of its tail is hairless and easy to grasp. Male and female monkeys are dark reddish brown, but fade with age.
Red roaring monkeys are arboreal and enjoy daytime activities, mostly in the crown. They like to walk on all fours, rarely jump, tail can provide additional support, second and third fingers are separated, suitable for grasping trees.
Red roaring monkeys live in small groups of 3 to 9. They are polygamous. There will be a male leader who will lead the members to look for food and protect them. Female monkeys in the community take care of young monkeys. Male monkeys roar at dawn to let their neighbours know that they exist and can be heard as far as five kilometers away, so as to avoid fighting among communities and reduce the energy consumption caused by fighting. (See here, do you think they are pacifist leaders? Nonono, see below.
There will be fierce competition among male monkeys because of the serious imbalance of sex ratio. Female monkeys stick out their tongues to attract males to mate. If the males do not respond, the females will look for other males (emmm picture is very good). The average gestation period was 190 days. Young monkeys stay with their mothers for 18 to 24 months. When males reach sexual maturity, they are excluded from the community. The excluded males must invade other communities and kill their leaders and their young monkeys in order to eliminate all potential competition. The survival rate of young monkeys after male invasion was less than 25%.
