"Biography of Wuxun" is a dramatic film directed by Sun Yu and starring Zhao Dan. It tells the story of "begging and learning" in Wuxun. It was produced by Kunlun Film Company in 1950.
On May 20, 1951, the People’s Daily published an editorial entitled "We should attach importance to the discussion of the biography of Wuxun", criticizing the play:
… In the great struggle against foreign aggressors and reactionary rulers at home in the late Qing Dynasty, people like Wuxun did not touch the foundation of the feudal economy and its superstructure at all. Instead, they fanatically propagated the feudal culture and, in order to gain the status of propagating the feudal culture that they did not possess, slaved the reactionary feudal rulers. Should we eulogize the genius of the knee and this ugly act? Can we tolerate eulogizing such ugly behavior to the people, even singing the revolutionary banner of "serving the people", or even using the failure of the revolutionary peasant struggle as a contrast? To admit or tolerate such praise is to admit or tolerate the stigmatization of the peasant revolutionary struggle, the stigmatization of Chinese history and the stigmatization of the reactionary propaganda of the Chinese nation as legitimate propaganda.
In 2005, it was shown in a series of activities commemorating the centenary of Chinese film and the 90th anniversary of Zhao Dan’s birth.
In 2012, the original DVD was released. The top left corner of the cover of the box case is marked with a line: "For research purposes".
