The New Museum of Panlongcheng Site Museum opened today. After 10 months of trial operation, the new museum of Panlongcheng Site Museum officially opened today.
The New Museum of Panlongcheng Heritage Museum, which was started on August 26, 2016, will be the first time to meet the audience and try to truly restore the brilliant bronze civilization of the Yangtze River Valley 3500 years ago.
Panlongcheng Site was discovered in 1954. It is located in Huangpi District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It is located in Panlonghu Peninsula, surrounded by water on three sides, southeast and west. The total area is about 75400 square meters. The city site is 290 meters long in North and south, 260 meters wide in East and west, and 1100 meters in circumference. Large-scale buildings such as city sites, palaces and many high-level noble tombs have been excavated. Hundreds of relics such as bronze, pottery, jade, stone and bone ware have been unearthed. Archaeology reveals the two palace foundations in the palace city, which is the earliest material historical data of the "front-court and back-bed" architectural pattern found in China. It is a large-scale and abundant unearthed city site in Xia and Shang dynasties discovered in the Yangtze River Basin. The site reflects the social scene of the expansion of Central Plains culture southward and the formation of a central city in the Yangtze River Basin during the Shang Dynasty (the first 16-13th century). Through the archaeological discovery of Panlongcheng site, we realize the identity of Erlitou and Erligang culture in the south, reveal the spread and distribution of Xia and Shang culture in the Yangtze River basin, and provide valuable material materials for the study of ancient politics, economy and culture.![]()
