New genus 2019
The genus Barryichthys, a family of Laryngeal Panichthys, was first discovered recently. It has two species, Brown rat clingfish (Barryichthys hutchinsi) and Green rat clingfish (Barryichthys algicola), the former from South Australia to Southwest Australia and the latter from New South Wales. In the south, southeastern Australia, Victoria and Tasmania, mainly inhabit algae. Barryichthys is different from other fishes of the same family in the shape of suckers, the location of lateral head tubes, pectoral fin spines and so on. Its scientific name is Barry Hutchins, a fisherist from the Museum of Western Australia. name
