[Nara Meiji’s Graffiti] A HK$100 still in circulation, after graffiti, was traded at a "sky-high" price of HK$450,000. On October 7, Sotheby’s Hong Kong auction of Contemporary Art staged this scene.
The Hong Kong dollar, titled Untitled, was "processed" by Japanese artist Nara Michi and painted on the paper money with a blue ballpoint pen.
According to Sotheby’s official website, the film was created in 2011, initially valued at HK$30,000-40,000, but eventually dropped at HK$360,000. The transaction price (including commission) was as high as HK$450,000, which added nearly 4,500 times the original face value of HK$100.![]()
