BMW Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) can provide unlimited zero emission travel. It has similar experience with traditional fuel vehicles: fuel addition time is not more than four minutes, it can be used for a long distance, and climate conditions have no effect on vehicle performance. This means that customers can enjoy the same mileage in summer and winter. At present, the related infrastructure is still in the early stage of development in most countries.
In 2022, BMW Group plans to launch a small-scale production vehicle based on the cash BMW X5, which will bring the next generation of hydrogen fuel cell electric drive system to the market. BMW I Hydrogen NEXT hydrogen fuel cell concept vehicle is just the attempt and prospect for future mass production vehicles. BMW expects to start supplying fuel cell vehicles to customers as early as 2025.
