Fortunately, I received Houlang Photography College.

I have the honor to receive the new book "Endangered: We and Their Future" from @Houlang Photography Academy. I have to say that it is a rare good book after reading it again and again. I have read many albums and photo collections of nature before, but the shock of this book is unforgettable. Author Tim Frack uses his keen and insightful lens to show us the mysterious creatures hidden in the secret world, which, regrettably, is collapsing at an unprecedented rate.
Speaking of the word "endangered", I believe you may not be unfamiliar, but as the author left us with the opening question: but the question is, what is endangered? I think there are only a handful of people who can explain this problem. We know that giant pandas and tigers need our protection, but we don’t know what it means to lose them; when we see the ivory and rhinoceros horns on display in the window, we know that they are stolen goods for illegal poaching, but not pangolins in pharmacies or double-headed sharks in seafood stalls. Wen: We can only use "protecting animals" as a slogan, but we have no idea how to really help them… And this is everywhere. When we look at animals in zoos, have we ever thought that their peers are facing the threat of losing their homes in the wild not far away? The answer is obvious.
In fact, extinction is not so far away from us and them as we think. In the process of publishing the Chinese version of this book, we lost the last male North White Rhinoceros "Sudan" in the world. The Eastern puma was officially declared extinct. The newly discovered dead shark became the first cartilage fish known to be extinct due to human activities. The last female zebra turtle in China died out… Extinction actually happens around us, we have lost too much, which is not the most tragic; we can’t even retrieve what is passing by in a hurry. Their departure is more or less related to our activities. Whenever a species disappears forever because of our actions, it undoubtedly adds to the heinous crimes committed by our human beings – we have lost a neighbor, but most people do not know about it.
I’ve been criticized before: "How much does extinction have to do with us? The earth will not stop turning because of the extinction of a species, and neither will you nor my life be affected by it. Admittedly, as the most "successful" species on the planet, we will not suffer too much from over-hunting, habitat loss, climate change, but that does not mean that we can do so arbitrarily. The transformation of a lake into a golf course is just one more place for entertainment for us, but for the crustaceans and shellfish that inhabit the lake, a dam is only for power generation, flood control and irrigation, but for migratory fish it is an insurmountable barrier. Tortoise armor fans and inkstone strings are just Cultural Games in our hands, but for tortoise shells and giant inkstones, they are the loss of population. We will never be extra cautious because of the so-called "power" brought by modern science and technology. The river water in Wuhan has lost the white sturgeon, the mountain forest in Xiamen has lost the South China tiger, and the shallow sea in Hepu has lost the dugong. These things happened quietly around us, we have an inescapable responsibility for these events, but we turn a deaf ear to them, which is undoubtedly ridiculous and sad.
Of course, even in the mist, we can still see the dawn. Giant pandas and snow leopards have been reduced from endangered to vulnerable. The population of Tibetan antelope has been restored to about 300,000. The national list of protected animals has been updated. Expanding our vision to the whole world, the "Global Tiger Doubling" project has been reported frequently, the return of the Arabian Swordhorn Antelope and the Przewalski Mustang, the breeding project of the bamboo stick insect on Lord Howe Island and the Angloka elephant turtle… There is still a group of people who are willing to create the last chance for the dying creatures to continue to thrive on this planet.
After reading this book, we also think that we really need to think about it – after all, we are not the only masters of the planet, we are equal to them, which is the fundamental reason why we want to save endangered species.
By the way, let’s share some illustrations in the book. The pictures are really good and vivid.[爱你]Love to burst
