The Mongolian language is called Harahot, also known as Heicheng, located in the desert on the North Bank of the lower reaches of the dried Ejina River (Heishui).
Founded in the Western Xia Dynasty, Yanjun Department of Heishui Town was set up. Kublai Khan, the ancestor of the Yuan Dynasty, expanded the city and established the Chinai Road Managing Office. The city is 470 meters long in East and west, 384 meters wide in North and south, and has a total area of 180,000 square meters. After the Ming Dynasty, the city was gradually abandoned and eventually engulfed by yellow sand.
Nowadays, on the northwest corner of the site of the ancient city, there is a 12-meter-high bowl-covered Buddhist pagoda standing alone, which is the symbol of Black Water City.
