Cynopterus brachyotis.

Cynopterus brachyotis is a species of the genus Cynopterus. This is a small bat that lives in South and Southeast Asia and Indonesia (Borneo). It weighs between 21 and 32 grams and has many types of habitats. The most common types of habitats are forests, including mountain forests and tropical lowland rainforests at lower altitudes, as well as vegetation on gardens, mangroves and beaches.
Short-eared dog bats are usually brown to yellowish-brown with lighter necks. The neck of adult males is dark orange, while that of adult females is yellow. The color of juvenile neck is not obvious. The edges of the ears and wing bones are usually white. There are two pairs of lower incisors, a fox-like face and big black eyes. Life cycle 20 to 30 years.
Short-eared dog bats prefer fruit, especially mango. They mainly eat small fruits, suck out juice and soft pulp. Sometimes they also eat nectar and pollen.
The mating system of the short-eared dog bat is polygamous. In the Philippines, females get pregnant twice a year, almost every month. The pregnancy period is about 3.5 to 4 months. Female lactating pups lasted for about 6 to 8 weeks. It takes about one year for males to mature, and most females can conceive in about 6 to 8 months. Both males and females take care of their pups, and males play an active role in breastfeeding and feeding. They have breasts the same size as females, more than 8% of their total body weight (babies raised by breast milk and father’s milk).
Short-eared dog bats like to live in small groups on trees, under leaves, or in caves. Young males may live alone. It is common for a male to be with up to four females. Females may live in groups of 20.
