[An ancient bridge collapsed in Jiangxi] According to Yongfeng’s official post, at about 20:29 p.m. last night, an ancient bridge collapsed in Enjiang Town, Yongfeng County, Jiangxi Province, with a length of about 10 meters. After preliminary search and rescue, one person died and two were injured. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Located on the Enjiang River south of Yongfeng County, Enjiang Bridge is an ancient bridge with twisted bridges. The 335-meter-long bridge, which was built in the Yuan Dynasty, experienced dozens of damages and repeated repairs, was finally built in the Qing Dynasty with stone arch structure.
After the founding of New China, the government allocated special funds, from 1956 to 1986, which were renovated five times. Enjiang Bridge has experienced more than 600 storms and rains in spring and autumn. During the once-in-a-century flood in summer 2010, it was destroyed by many rock piers. In December 2012, Yongfeng invested more than 6.7 million yuan to overhaul the Enjiang Bridge.![]()
