[Bamboo House for the Venice Biennale] This 8-shaped brick-and-wood reticulated red building, Zhuli, situated in the valley of Daoming Bamboo Art Village, Chongzhou, outside Chengdu, is covered with green bamboo and surrounded by streams. It represented China in the Venice Biennale of Architecture 2018, as China’s practice of "building the future countryside". Works on display.
"Zhuli" was designed by Yuan Feng, a famous architect of Tongji University in Shanghai. Lightweight prefabricated frame is used to support an inward folding ring-shaped green tile roof, which comes from infinite symbol and is also the topological deformation of Taiji pattern, representing fusion and infinity. The interior space of "Zhuli" is not big, but as a conceptual building, it embodies the elegance and mystery of Oriental culture. It is also worthwhile to have a cup of tea specially.
