Archilochus colubris is the smallest bird species to breed in eastern North America, with the largest breeding range of all hummingbirds in the United States.
Its toes and feet are very small and its middle toes are about 0.6 centimeters long, so if you want to move on the branches, you can only drag your feet. The species is heteromorphic and mature males have striking red throats.
Red-throated North Hummingbird is a migratory bird, and winters are mostly in southern Mexico and Central America. The incubation period is in mixed deciduous forests throughout the eastern United States, Eastern and southern Canada.
