American Explanation of Money Manipulation

The US interpretation of currency manipulation is mainly based on two bills: the TFTEA Act of 2015 and the Comprehensive Trade and Competition Act of 1988.

TFTEA has specific quantitative criteria for determining exchange rate manipulation. Three criteria meet the list at the same time, but according to this threshold, most countries in the world can not meet the criteria.

So in October last year, Trump and the US Treasury issued a warning that they wanted to revise the standards of manipulation. In May this year, the Ministry of Finance revised the coverage criteria for monitoring unfair exchange rates in the macroeconomic and foreign exchange policy reports of major trading partners, expressing their dissatisfaction with the low threshold of standard recognition.

The 1988 Act on Exchange Rate Manipulation is more flexible. Article 204 of the Act stipulates that the Secretary must "consider whether countries manipulate the rate of exchange between their currencies and the United States dollar for purposes of preventing effective balance of payments adjustments or gainin" G unfair competitive advantage in international trade. "

This gives the Ministry of Finance more operational space.

In fact, this time China was identified as a currency manipulator, that is to say, the bill of 30 years ago was used. How to say that the United States is baseless and unscrupulous, and it is not entirely, but the United States is more rational, let alone more.

But now the United States doesn’t care.
