A group of young Nelusetta ayraudi attacked a spotted octopus (Hapalochlaena maculosa).
Ehrlichthys australis is the second longest leatherfish in the world (next only to mimetic leatherfish) and the seventh longest in the world (next only to Lagrangian, speartail, tippler, cryptotippler, spotted fork-nosed and mimetic leatherfish), with a maximum body length of about one meter. Unlike most leatherfish, the Australian monothorax is very ferocious, attacking very large prey and has even recorded killing bigger than its own.
Octopus punctatus is the so-called blue-ringed octopus. There are 5 species (4 species have been published) of Octopus punctatus. Octopus punctatus is the only one with a homicidal record. The saliva of Octopus variegatus contains tetrodotoxin, which can paralyze nerves, but it has no power to restrain chickens in front of the Australian monothorax.
